Tasty Paleo Pork Rinds
I came across another delicious (but rather odd) recipe that I wanted to share with you today. This recipe for Homemade Paleo Pork Rinds was posted on Paleo Diet Lifestyle’s blog.
What are pork rinds? They are simply roasted pork skin. You can also fry it if you want as well. I know that may sound a little strange, but it tastes great.
Many people are skeptical about the healthiness of eating pork skin. Sebestien at Paleo Diet Lifestyle said that there is no reason to be worried. This snack is savored by people all over the world.
That being said, Sebestien also feels that the best way to go about eating pork rinds is to cook them yourself. One of the biggest concerns with many others is that they have a lot of sodium in them. You are the only one that knows how much sodium you can eat without feeling any adverse effects. Unfortunately, many restaurants are probably going to load you down with more than is healthy. You can put in the right amount when you cook them yourself.
I have provided a list of some of the ingredients you can use to get started. The full recipe is available on Sebestien’s blog. Make sure you have these items on hand:
- Pork skin
That’s it. This is really one of the simplest recipes I have ever come across. According to Sebestien’s blog, you can make pork rinds in about an hour and a half. Many cooks insist that you cook the pork skins for about twice that time after putting the salt on. Sebastien said that isn’t necessary, but you will have to use your own judgement to decide what works. These really make a great snack and I encourage anyone to try them.
Have you tried a variation of this recipe before? We would love to hear what you thought about it!
